Varicose veins are dilated, raised, cord-like veins that become visible on the legs. They can appear at different stages of progression, ranging from simple dilated veins to skin changes that can eventually lead to wounds or chronic ulcers. The disease that causes them is known as chronic venous insufficiency.
There is another type of varicose vein that mainly affects women, the so-called pelvic varices. Because of their location, they are harder to detect, but their symptoms interfere with the everyday lives of those who suffer from them. This condition causes pelvic congestion syndrome.

How do we treat varicose veins?
Varicose veins are a sign of venous insufficiency and can appear in many forms and in different locations. Each patient receives a specific treatment, using the least invasive approach possible. Whatever the strategy, compression stockings will always be an essential ally for a comfortable recovery after the procedure, with less discomfort, pain and bruising.
There is no such thing as "THE BEST TREATMENT" for varicose veins. Every patient is unique: their personal circumstances, their preferences, their habits, the way their venous insufficiency presents...
Non-surgical treatment
It is based on sclerotherapy: this involves introducing into the diseased veins a chemical that irritates the endothelium (the inner wall of the vein that comes into contact with the product), whose function is to seal, collapse or “dry out” the dilated venous channels, leading, after several sessions, to their reabsorption and gradual disappearance
Minimally invasive techniques in the operating theatre
We use endovascular venous techniques to remove large varicose veins, or in cases where microfoam is not the best option. The aim is to eliminate the varicose veins by applying a thermal energy source (endovenous laser or radiofrequency), a mechanochemical method (Flebogrif or Clarivein) or by sealing them with glue.
